The concept is primarily applied in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales, while Scotland has a slightly different educational system.

There are four main Key Stages in the UK education system:

1. Key Stage 1 (KS1):

   • Age Range: 5 to 7 years old (Years 1 and 2)

   • Focus: Early years of primary education

   • Subjects: English, mathematics, science, and other foundation subjects

2. Key Stage 2 (KS2):

   • Age Range: 7 to 11 years old (Years 3 to 6)

   • Focus: Later years of primary education

   • Subjects: English, mathematics, science, and a broader range of foundation subjects such as history, geography, art, and music

3. Key Stage 3 (KS3):
